Core Values

For Core Values, we had to do a task and answer questions. We entered the judging area with our impressive banners and begun with an initial introduction. We then did the task which was to make the tallest free-standing structure possible with paper and paper clips. We split into different roles, such as leader, time keeper and builder. We then folded each of our pieces of paper in to triangular prisms and solidified them with paper clips. We then stacked them horizontally, 2 per layer, in a cross. Using this technique, we manged to make a rather tall and definitely strong structure out of paper. Finally, we answered some questions and were on our way.

Posters Core Values Toady we have been working on our core values poster (left). We have split into 6 groups, with each one working on a different part of the poster: Discovery, Coopertition, Inclusion, Integration, Team Spirit and Extra info. Everyone in the team is putting in money to have the poster printed as we are a mainly self-funded team. The Other One  After the core values poster, we created the other poster, which can be seen on the left. this poster includes more general information about the team itself. The poster includes fun facts and school info as well as other more general information about us and our FLL.

Week 7 - 25/10/19

More Coding FLL Today, coding is being finished for motor control and we are testing the code for the missions as we go through. Also, more attachments are being made and completed ready for future missions that we are yet to code. On top of this, We are progressing our project idea and are looking to send it to some professionals for feedback SUMO Competition  As the teams prepare for their last week before half-term and the beginning of the tournament, the pressure is definitely building as more and more teams get have friendly battles to test their bot. The final practices begins with each team ready to take on the other.

2020 Update

    Due to the Coronavirus, different year groups cannot interact like they used to. Because of this, and the fact that Year 9 showed the most interest, Robotics has been running for only Year 9s this year - and instead of running our usual SUMO competition, we are re-running last year’s FLL: but with only the Robot Game and Robot Design. The majority of our FLL team in future years will be formed from the current year 9s, and it is important that they learn the skills required to compete at a high level in this competition, and continue the legacy of the club once the current FLL team members leave further education. Also due to COVID-19, we will unfortunately not be participating in the 2020/2021 FLL season. Our team members are in several different year groups, and the inability to mix with each other - along with the lack of funding (our school has redirected this to the COVID-19 response effort) - has required us to make this difficult decision, and we are a...
